Everything about Donut Escrow

Guides for how the platform works, what it costs, how your funds are protected, and what to do when something goes wrong.

Overview

Donut Escrow is an automated middleman for crypto trades. When two people trade, the buyer's crypto is held in a dedicated vault wallet until both sides confirm the deal is done. Only then is it paid out to the receiver.

That means neither side has to trust the other first: the buyer knows the funds are locked, and the seller knows the money is there before they deliver.

Vault per dealEvery deal gets its own deposit address.
Both confirmFunds only leave when both parties agree.

Quick start

  1. Create an account. Sign up with your email, or log in with Discord.
  2. Start a deal. Choose your coin and enter your partner's username, or open their escrow link (donutmm.online/open/username).
  3. Your partner accepts. The deal room opens for both of you.
  4. Pick roles. Choose who is the Sender and who is the Receiver. A deposit address is created for the deal.
  5. Fund the escrow. The buyer sends the crypto to the vault address shown on the deal page.
  6. Complete the trade. The seller delivers the goods or service.
  7. Release. Both confirm, a short countdown runs, and the funds go to the receiver.

How a deal works

1. Request

One person starts the deal with the other person's username. No amount is entered up front. The other person gets a request and must accept it.

2. Roles and deposit

After acceptance you both choose Sender and Receiver, and the platform creates a deposit address for that single deal. Only send the coin and network shown on the deal page.

3. Delivery

Once the deposit is detected, the seller can safely deliver. Use the deal room to talk to each other.

4. Release

When the buyer is satisfied, both people confirm. After both confirmations there is a 10-second countdown before the payout is triggered, so a misclick can be undone.

Tip: Only confirm release when you have actually received what you paid for. Once a payout is sent, it can't be reversed.

Fees

A percentage fee, with a minimum fee, is deducted from each completed transaction. It is taken at release, before the payout to the seller. The exact current percentage and minimum are always shown in the Terms of Service.

  • There is an absolute minimum escrow amount. Very small deals can be partly used up by network fees at payout.
  • Network fees are charged by the blockchain, not by Donut Escrow.

Safety & custody

Funds are held in a custodial vault address generated for each escrow. Donut Escrow never asks for your private keys or seed phrases.

Never share your password, 2FA codes, seed phrase or private keys with anyone, including people who say they are staff. We will not ask for them.

Stay safe

  • Always use the official site, donutmm.online. Check the address before logging in.
  • Look at your partner's profile and vouches before you start a deal.
  • Send only the exact coin and network shown on the deal page, to the exact address shown.
  • Keep the whole conversation inside the deal room.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication on your account.

Cancelling & expiry

  • To cancel an escrow, both the buyer and the seller must agree.
  • To release funds, both must confirm.
  • An escrow expires 20 minutes after it is created if no deposit is detected.
  • Once a deposit arrives, the escrow stays open until both parties settle it.

Profiles & vouches

Every trader has a public profile at donutmm.online/u/username showing their activity and vouches from other traders. Vouches build a history that other users can check before dealing with you.

Every trader also has an escrow link, donutmm.online/open/username. Share it in a chat or on a profile; anyone who opens it can start a deal with you.

Your account

  • Sign in: with email and password, or with Discord.
  • Two-factor authentication: you can protect your account with an authenticator app. When it is on, you enter a code once per login session.
  • Updates: new features and fixes are listed on the changelog.

Install the app

You can add Donut Escrow to your phone or computer so it opens full screen like a normal app. Open donutmm.online/download for step-by-step instructions for Android, iPhone and Windows/Mac.

Troubleshooting

My deposit isn't showing

Crypto deposits take a little while to be detected. Check that you sent the exact coin on the exact network, to the exact address shown on the deal page. If no deposit is detected within 20 minutes of the deal being created, it expires. If you're stuck, contact support with your Deal ID.

I sent the wrong coin or used the wrong network

Contact support right away with your Deal ID and the transaction link. Recovery can't be promised, but the sooner we know the better.

The other person doesn't see my deal

They need to accept the request first. Check that you typed their username exactly, and ask them to open the deal from their dashboard.

I clicked release by mistake

After both confirmations there is a 10-second countdown before the payout starts. Use it to undo. After the payout is triggered it can't be reversed.

I can't log in

If you signed up with Discord, use the Discord login button. Otherwise use your email and password. If you still can't get in, contact support with your username.

The other person isn't delivering

Don't confirm the release. Your funds stay in the vault until both of you settle the deal. Contact support with your Deal ID so staff can help.
